Lane Tech is a big public high school in Chicago, serving students from seventh to twelfth grade. It focuses on preparing students for college, especially in the technological aspects of education. Lane has a long history of excellence, starting as a manual training school for boys over a century ago. In 1934, the current building was opened on a thirty-acre campus. In 1971, female students were admitted for the first time, and now they make up half of the student body. Lane has a strong reputation thanks to dedicated leaders, teachers, students, parents, and community support. Lane Tech is the largest high school in Chicago, with over 4,200 students from diverse backgrounds. The faculty consists of more than 250 educators, supported by over 100 staff members. The curriculum focuses on college preparation and technical education, with over 90 percent of students going on to earn degrees in various fields like engineering, medicine, journalism, and more.
